Got One?
Posted on September 11, 2014  in Apologetics/Worldviews, Bible, Blog
Several years ago, as pastors, we planned a question and answer night during a Sunday evening service.  We announced it weeks in advance and invited anyone in the church to ask any question they wanted.  During the evening we would address the questions that people had.  I believe we only got one!  This puzzled us a little because we know people have questions, big questions, questions about really important matters.  We just weren’t sure why people didn’t ask any.
As I recently discovered during my time at Pleasant Bay Camp, when people have the opportunity to ask questions anonymously, they’ll ask almost anything.  Perhaps asking a question in person is embarrassing (depending on the topic) or nerve wracking (because you don’t know what someone will think of you).  In a desire to remove that obstacle, which we totally understand, we wanted to make it possible for you to ask questions without anyone knowing who is doing the asking.  While there may be some drawback to this (the answer can’t be quite as specific as it could be) there is also great benefit: we may have opportunity to address topics that many people have on their minds.
What I’ve done is set up a twitter account that anyone can sign in to, ask a question, and tweet @HespelerBaptist.  Some of you are familiar with twitter and all you need is the user name and password.  For those new to twitter, there are more detailed instructions below.
First, the rules: you can ask anything you like and we can answer anything we like.  We’ll either do that by posting on the blog, or, by collecting a bunch of questions and then taking an evening and answering several at once.
Let’s see how it goes!
username: aquestiontoask
password: helpmefindananswer.
If you’ve never used twitter before, sign in here.  Enter the username and password above.
Once you login, on the left hand side, you’ll see a white box that says “Compose new tweet…”  That’s where you type your question (it has to be 140 characters or less).  Once you’ve typed your question, you tweet it at the church by including @HespelerBaptist at the end.
Once you’re done, log out by clicking the gear icon in the top right hand corner and click sign out from the drop down menu.
If you get stuck, read these again, or let us know.
Happy asking!
