BIBLE: The Gospel Project

The Gospel Project
Posted on January 3, 2017  in Bible, Blog
Now that the countdown to Christmas and 2017 is behind us, we’ve moved on to a third countdown we’ve been anticipating: the launch of The Gospel Project. What is The Gospel Project?
Pastor Caleb writes,
“On January 8th our church will embark on a 4 year journey through the storyline of Scripture. The Gospel Project will help us grasp the progress of redemption from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. Every lesson will aim to show us how Christ can be found in all of Scripture (Luke 24:27). Over four years we will learn 99 essential Christian doctrines that the Bible teaches from beginning to end. Everyone will learn the same lesson each week, taught in an age-appropriate fashion. Material will then be sent home to enable families to practice discipleship during the week. As you make your resolutions for 2017, we would ask you to make The Gospel Project one of them. We believe that a resolve to participate will grow us in walking worthy of the gospel as disciples, and help us become more fruitful in our mandate to make disciples!”
Here are his top reasons for anticipating January 8th:
The Gospel Project will give us a whole picture of the Bible. It will show us the unity of the Scriptures. It will make books like Leviticus beautiful to us in ways we’ve never known before.
The Gospel Project will give us confidence in the Scriptures; which is confidence in God whose Word it is.
The Gospel Project will give us confidence in communicating the Scriptures as we evangelize and disciple others.
As for me, I’m looking forward to The Gospel Project as a dad. I’ll know exactly what my kids will learn each week and I’ll be challenged to continue teaching them at home. I’m also looking forward to The Gospel Project as a church member. As we all learn the same material at the same time each week, we’ll be growing as an entire community. That will be beautiful!
We hope you’ll be in your seat with an open Bible and pen in hand before 9:30am this Sunday morning! In the meantime, here’s a short video to whet your appetite.
Grace & peace,
Sean
